So, why is it so damned popular?

Is it a fetish?
We’ve established why jerk off instruction is so popular, and how prevalent it really is. But is it actually a fetish? As I mentioned before, it’s a very frequent request I get in female domination phone calls… So many people must think it’s a fetish, right?
Personally, I would have to disagree. I do not believe it is a fetish. Almost everyone really wants something more similar to what I consider jerk off encouragement, which is more gentle. They just want the sexy woman telling them to touch their penis. They don’t necessarily want to be controlled, and they don’t want to do anything taboo.
Let’s take a look at one definition of the word fetish:

It is true that the gratification derived from jerk off instruction is typically linked to a particular part of the body; the penis. But is it abnormal? With the extreme popularity of it, and practically no stigma surrounding it, I would have to argue that JOI does not actually qualify as a fetish.
